Overview

Reports To: Senior SC Recovery Officer

 

Primary Functions: Responsible for collection of charged-off financial obligations owed to the credit union.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Contact members regarding charged-off accounts and arrange for repayment of those debts.
  2. Respond to member inquires regarding financial obligations owed to the credit union.
  3. Perform "skip traces" as required.
  4. Arrange and approve settlements and payment agreements as necessary on charged-off accounts within credit union guidelines.
  5. Analyze and recommend to the Senior Special Credits Recovery Officer, when appropriate, adverse actions on accounts to include, but not limited to, repossession of collateral, closure of credit limits, blocks on credit cards, legal actions and account codes to alert other credit union departments of losses and fraud accounts.
  6. Assist in the development and training of staff for compliance with all policies, laws, and procedures as they relate to collections.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school graduate or equivalent.

 

Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education: Not Applicable

 

Experience/Skills: One year's experience in the collection field with a knowledge of current regulations regarding collections or one year experience with this credit union in a problem-solving capacity which routinely requires independent decision making. Direct and varied member contact is also a requirement. Requires good written and verbal communication skills.

 

Tenure: Special Credits Recovery Officer II (Category 11) requires 12 months tenure in the Special Credits Recovery Officer I (Category 12) position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations. Special Credits Recovery Officer III (Category 10) requires 12 months tenure in the Special Credit Recovery Officer II (Category 11) position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations. Assignment to Senior Special Credits Recovery Officer (Category 09) will be determined by the candidate's education or experience. Directly related work experience and/or accelerated training completion may be substituted for tenure.

Compensation

Salary Pay Range:

  • Special Credits Recovery Officer I (Category 12): $53,226 - $81,405 annually
  • Special Credits Recovery Officer II (Category 11): $57,484 - $90,230 annually
  • Special Credits Recovery Officer III (Category 10): $63,233 - $99,908 annually

Starting base salary will be determined based on candidate experience, qualifications, education, and local or state wage requirements, if applicable and will fall within the range provided above.

 

In accordance with our Salary Administration policy, new hire base salaries generally fall within the minimum to midpoint of the listed range.
