Overview

Reports to: Special Credits Asset & Recovery Manager

 

Functions Supervised: Portfolio Manager and Commercial Collection related positions.

 

Primary Functions: Responsible for the management, development and performance of all Portfolio Management and Commercial collections functions. Additionally, directs and manages legal processes related to all commercial collection activity.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for assignment of work and daily management of the Portfolio Management team to ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities to maximize productivity and quality of work performed.
  2. Responsible for reviewing Portfolio Managers work and for making recommendations regarding adjustment in work routines and processes.
  3. Responsible for review of delinquent loans, and recommendation of loans for charge off.
  4. Responsible for timely recommendation for closure of credit limits consistent with credit union policies and procedures.
  5. Responsible for negotiating and administering loss mitigation solutions for members experiencing financial difficulties to include, but not limited to, use of loan modification, refinances and extensions according to credit union policies/procedures/practices.
  6. Responsible for development of staff to ensure all collections personnel follow all appropriate state and federal laws, regulations, and credit union policies/procedures/practices governing collection actions.
  7. Responsible for working with and directing legal counsel in cases of bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossession, receivership.
  8. Responsible for the creation and periodic updating of policies and procedures relating to commercial risk, collection actions, non-accruals, and temporary debt restructures (TDRs) consistent with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. This includes the establishment of Portfolio Management loss mitigation strategies.
  9. Responsible for working with staff on Loan Impairment and Risk Rating models to include periodic enhancements of the same.
  10. Perform all duties of Portfolio Manager, as necessary.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.

 

Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education: Minimum of 10 years experience in collection field and thorough knowledge of laws and regulations related to collections or at least five years experience as a Portfolio Manager or comparable experience. Thorough knowledge of judicial processes associated with commercial, personal and real property loan collection preferred. Three years supervisory experience preferred.

 

Experience/Skills: Thorough knowledge of collection laws and other federal, state, and local laws related to delinquency control. Must have a proven ability to evaluate difficult situations and exercise good judgment. Must have good human relations skills and a strong personality to effectively handle adverse situations with the ability to resolve conflict and promote cooperation and positive morale. Must have strong communication skills, both orally and written. Must be highly organized with an exceptional attention to detail along with proven technical skills related to use of all Microsoft Office systems (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) as well as various proprietary and third-party platforms, i.e. Symitar, AX, Baker Hill, etc. Background in bankruptcy, attorney referrals/inquiries and court actions preferred. Construction work out experience highly desired or comparable experience in lieu thereof.

Compensation

Commercial Collections Officer (Category 08)

 

Salary Pay Range: $79,989 - $132,798 annually. Starting base salary will be determined based on candidate experience, qualifications, education, and local or state wage requirements, if applicable and will fall within the range provided above.

 

In accordance with our Salary Administration policy, new hire base salaries generally fall within the minimum to midpoint of the listed range.
